What is the best dental discount plan.

Tuesday, May. 26th 2015 6:37 AM

Question: I have come to a decision that I will be getting a dental discount plan. However, I’m still not sure which discount plan would be the best.  Cost wise I see they are around the same give or take a few dollars.  How do I know for sure the one I get is the best plan?

Answer: Dental discount plan all normally work the same. What you want to compare is the discounted fee schedule each has to offer to make sure which provide the deeper discount savings. Also since under a dental discount plan you have to go to plan providers you will want to make sure that the plans you are reviewing has dental providers you would want to go to.

Dental Insurance Plus, Dental Insurance and Dental Discount Plan

Sunday, May. 24th 2015 6:07 AM

Question: What is the coverage difference between Dental Insurance and a Dental Discount plan?  I know that with a dental discount plan you get discounted saving off your dental services.  But want I am wanting to know is would I be lacking in coverages or benefits if I buy a dental discount plan over dental insurance?

I am leaning towards a dental discount plan. However, when I tell my work friends that I may get a discount plan they are all like you should just get dental insurance. They say this but they do not give me any valid reasons why they feel that way.

Answer: Often times people will say things base on thin air. Meaning that they have no real facts or even personal experience to base their opinions on.

Dental discount plan workout well for many people who buy them.  More and more people are going towards getting dental discount plans because they are more affordable and they offer savings for any type of dental care services.

The key factor make sure you have a dental offices that takes the plan. Make sure to call the dental office and confirm this prior to buying any dental plan. As long as you know what you are buying and like the discount pricing under the plan that should be the real issue.

Dental Insurance Plus, Full Coverage Dental Insurance Plans

Friday, May. 22nd 2015 6:48 AM

Question: What type of dental insurance offers you full dental coverages?  I am an adult with no kids. I am looking for a dental insurance plan that does not exclude coverages for cosmetic dental services.  I want a plan that does it all.

Answer: Finding one dental insurance plan that does covers all dental services may be pretty difficult thing to find. I currently do not know of a dental insurance plan that covers cosmetic dental work.

I know that a few will offer you some discounted saving off of cosmetic services if needed. You also can get a dental discount plan. Now on a dental discount plan they will give you a discount off of any type of dental procedure but you need to go to dentist that take the plan.

Dental Insurance Plus, How does a typical dental insurance plan work

Wednesday, May. 20th 2015 9:07 AM

Question: I am wanting to know is if I buy a typical dental insurance plan what would a get out of it? I know some plans say free cleaning and X-rays but is that really all I get?  Would I be able to have fillings done at a low cost?

What about the rest of the dental services do all dental insurance plan make you wait until you can have anything beyond a cleaning done?  Seems to me that they offer a free cleaning as if it is something really good but you have to hope you do not need anything else for a year.

Answer: Sounds like you may have been reviewing a dental PPO insurance plan option. Dental PPO’s are the dental insurance plans that will normally have waiting periods for basic and major dental needs.

One normally will buy a PPO when they are trying to stay with their own dentist. If that is not your case may I suggest you look into dental HMOs insurance plans.

HMO normally does not have the long term waiting periods and they lay out the cost for all the dental services covered under the plan. You may like that type of dental plan better.

Dental Insurance Plus, Low cost dental insurance plan.

Monday, May. 18th 2015 11:47 AM

Question: My parents are on a fixed income.  We do not have dental insurance right now.  My dad is always working to pay the bills so I do not see him much.  Even though he works hard he can not afford $120 or more a month for dental insurance.

I am seventeen and work a part time job so I think I would be able to pay for my own dental services if my parents could get a low cost dental insurance plan for our family.   My mom does not use a computer and she does not want to bother my dad over this unless I can find something that sounds workable.

Answer: What I suggest, is to review and show to your parents our dental HMO insurance plans, or even a dental discount plan would help your parents reduce their dental cost for dental services.

They both offer low monthly rates. on average monthly rates would be anywhere from $15 – $30 for a family. Give or take depending on the plan but as you can see it is still much better then $120.

You where probably looking at dental PPO or Indemnity Insurance plans. Those type of dental insurance plans to tend to be much more costly.

Dental Insurance Plus, Moving with a Current Discount Plan.

Saturday, May. 16th 2015 6:02 AM

Question: I current have my son in braces.  I have a dental discount plan that save me 20% and it has been working well for me.  However now my husband job is making us move.

My worry is that we will be changing states.  My son is still has his braces and they will not be done in time for the move since he need them for another year.  Will I still be able to get my 20% discount under the plan with another plan dentist.

Answer: It should not be an issue since you had the dental discount plan when you first started the braces. If you know the zip code of where you will be moving to pull up the Orthodontic dentist that are there and call them a head of time.

Make sure they are willing to get into the middle of your son brace job. As long as they will take over from were the last dentist left off you should still get your 20%. However I would highly suggest you call member services of the dental discount plan you current have to confirm plan benefits.

Dental Insurance Plus, Keeping A Dental Insurance Plan

Thursday, May. 14th 2015 10:54 AM

Question: I do not have a lot of money for a dental insurance plan but I want to see a dentist it is past time for a basic check up. I notice under most dental insurance plan preventive dental care is free.  Do I have to keep the plan I buy or can I use it to get my free check up and cleaning then cancel since I do not need it any more.

Answer: You will just have to read the terms and conditions of the plan you are looking at. Some Insurance have long term waiting periods that may effect you. Where as some dental insurance plan are only annual options.

You may want to buy a Dental Discount plan, however even some dental discount plans are set up for one year term depending on who is selling it. I would advise on getting or looking for a discount plan that is monthly or one that you can cancel with a 30 day notice.

I hope that you only need a check up since you do not want to maintain any plan.  However keep in mind that if you do continue you may find it troublesome when or if you need larger dental care services in the future.

Dental Insurance Plus, What is Supplemental Dental Insurance

Tuesday, May. 12th 2015 10:46 AM

Supplemental dental insurance is an individual or family insurance policy purchased to cover a portion of the dental costs. Supplemental dental insurance will normally not cover the entire dental care procedure.

If you have a primary dental insurance plan that you purchased or your employer provided, the supplemental dental policy typically covers the remaining dental bill.  For example, if the dental plan policy covers half of the dental cost, the secondary or supplement dental insurance plan should cover the remaining balance of your dental procedure.

A supplement dental insurance plan may also be purchased to cover the dental charges when there are annual dental benefit plan limits or exclusions.

Other Alternatives for Affordable Dental Plans

Sunday, May. 10th 2015 10:41 AM

If you belong to a professional association, you might be eligible for a dental insurance or discount dental plan. Many associations partner with a PPO to provide their members with dental plans that offer very comprehensive insurance coverage at more affordable prices.

Finally, dental schools may offer affordable dental services. Dental schools seem to be safe, but can be inconvenient and treatment for one problem may have to be addressed in multiple office visits.

Affordable Dental HMO Plans

Wednesday, May. 6th 2015 6:37 AM

Affordable dental insurance plans from an HMO have a limited pool of dentist to select, but it is a more affordable insurance plan. If you are self employed and looking for a more affordable dental plan, a discount dental plan may be an alternative.

Discount dental plans are not dental insurance plans. A discount plan partners with dentists to provide customers with a savings on visits to the dentist office. The downside to discount dental plans is that they are not regulated and you have limited recourse if you experience dental plan problems.

Dental Insurance Plus, What is A Dental Filling

Monday, May. 4th 2015 6:43 AM

A filling is a way to restore a tooth damaged by dental decay back to its normal function and shape. A dentist will first remove the decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.  By closing off spaces where bacteria can enter, a filling can also help to prevent further dental decay. Materials used for fillings include gold, porcelain, a composite resin (tooth-colored fillings), and an amalgam (an alloy of mercury, silver, copper, tin and sometimes zinc).

Dental Discount, Need major dental work

Friday, Apr. 24th 2015 6:21 AM

Question: I have not been to the dentist since I was on my parents dental insurance plan, which has been some time now.  I know I need dental work.  I am not in any major pain or anything I just know that my teeth are not in good shape.

I am not sure if I should get a dental insurance plan with its waiting period and yearly max limitations and do my dental services a little at a time. Or go for a dental discount plan for the dental saving and get my dental work done all at once.  Which way in the long run would be cheaper?

Answer: It is a personal choice for you to make. As you know with most PPO plans you will have waiting periods and maxim limitations to deal with.  As long as you fully understand the plans terms and conditions PPO plans are great dental insurance plans to stay with or choose your own dental provider.

However, you may want to review a discount plan option if you do not want to have to wait for dental services. Also think in the long run when you have a lot of major dental services needed waiting for coverages to begin may not be the best option for your oral health

Dental Insurance Plus, Cosmetic dental services

Wednesday, Apr. 22nd 2015 6:21 AM

Cosmetic dentistry can help you to get your best smile at any age.  One of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures to a perfect smile is bonding.  Cosmetic dental bonding is a fairly painless procedure usually performed in one dental visit by applying an enamel like material to your teeth which is then shaped, hardened with a special light and polished.

For a more dramatic smile, porcelain veneers can make a drastic difference. With veneers, you can control the color, position, shape, and size of your new teeth which can correct crooked, worn, or chipped teeth. This procedure can cost between $1,200 – $3,500 per tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is not afforded by most dental insurance companies. If you are with a group dental insurance company through your employer, you may want to inquire if cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is provided under your dental plan.  Cosmetic dental coverage is normally provided by discount dental plans. Discount dental plans usually cover 15 to 20 percent of the cosmetic dental care cost.
