I need to get a new dental bridge.  I had my old one now for over eight years and I need a new one because the tooth that it is attached too has a new cavity under it. Not even sure how that happen but that is what I am being told. If they take the bridge off to fix it I will need to pay for a new bridge. I do not have dental insurance and need help.
Answer: You may want to buy yourself some dental insurance. By getting an individual dental insurance plan, it will help you with your dental care and reduce your dental cost. Look at dental HMO plans for now since generally dental HMO insurance plans do not have long terms waiting periods for the dental care you currently need to have
You may also want to look into dental discount plans options. Dental discount plans will give you a discount off the cost of the new bridge and all your other dental needs. Hopefully so that you can afford to get your needed dental work done.

Question: I have not been to the dentist in about three years because I did not have dental insurance. But since I just got a dental insurance plan that gave me free preventive care I went to see a dentist just the other day.
Where I was told that I have four cavities. I am not sure about this though. My teeth do not hurt me and I only went in for a free cleaning and X-rays.  Should I just keep my dental appointment to have the filling done or should I be getting a second dental opinion.
Answer: It is not unlike that you may have cavities if you have not been to the dentist in three years as stated. Also cavities do not always hurt. Often times small cavities will go unnoticed by you since their is no pain involve.  However, whit that said whenever you doubt what is being told to you by your dentist getting a second opinion is not a bad idea.

Question: I have this really nice girl friend and I really do like her a lot. The thing is when we first started going out things were find but lately I have been noticing she has really bad breath most of the time. Now I know she brushes her teeth and I seen her floss before too.  I do not think it is because she does not have good oral hygiene since everything else about her is clean. What would make her have bad breath and is there any advise I can give her. Not to be mean but this will start to become a issue with us if it goes on.
Answer: Depending on how much she is willing to listen with out taking it personally and getting up set. I would say have her see a dentist. She may have gum disease or some dental tooth decay both can cause bad breath issues.  Other reasons to have bad breath can be health related such as: Diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, sinus disease, reflux disease.

Recently I notice that my gums have been hurting a bit and them seem redder then they normally do. I brush twice a day and floss almost every day. They do not bleed when I am doing that but they just kinda hurt when I do. I read a little about gum disease but since I am not bleeding I am not sure that is what I have.
Answer: It could be that your are brushing to hard. Did you get a new toothbrush? Sometime a new brush can be a little hard in the beginning. However, if you are worried about your gums see your dentist. A dentist will be able to advise if you are having any issues with your oral and dental health

Question: I do not really understand how dental discount plans work. Why would a dentist give you dental discounts off their work? Are they raising their prices then just saying they are giving you a discount when they are not really? How do you make sure you are getting discounts that the plan says you should get.
Answer: General/Family dentist have agree to the fee schedule that is listed under the plan. So it not like on those services they are raising their rate since it is a set cost for the services listed.   for the services not listed they are to give you a 20 percent discount off their own cost so I guess they could raise their cost. However you can also ask for a price list for the cash services so that you know what their charges are ahead of time.

Question: I am not sure how to go about choosing a plan provider in an HMO dental insurance plan I thinking about buying on your website.
Answer: When choosing a dental provider in a plan network, you will want to call the dentist in the network and ask them any questions that is important to you. Business hours, how far booked up are they. That they provide the dental services you may be looking for.
If you can afford the time, I also suggest to do some research on line. Check to see if a dental office has people complaining about them. Do a drive by of the place and see if you like how it looks. You can even just stop by and ask to talk to the dentist all of which may help you in picking a dentist.
Remember if you do like them you can normally change your provider to another plan dentist.

Question: I just got my dental insurance package that I get though work. I do not understand why it shows on the dental insurance that the deductible is $150.00. $150.00 is about the amount I would have to pay anyway for my basic dental care without insurance. What is the point of having money taken out of my pay check for dental when I have just a high deductible?
Answer: I really can not help you address a group dental plan you get though your employment. Our dental PPO plan have a $50.00 deductible per person but maxes out at three people per year making a total of $150.00. I can not say this is the case for you however. I would suggest you call the dental insurance company for a better understanding of your policy coverages.

Question: I like your plans where it says I can choose my own dentist. Is that true? Can I go to any dentist I want? I called my dental office, and was told that they would send a billing claim to any dental insurance company I want but it would be on me if they do not accept them. I can I make sure that the dental company will accept a claim from my dentist?
Answer: Yes on any plan that we have to offer that says you can choose your own dentist that is true. You can go to any dentist you want because it is either a PPO that will let you go outside their network of providers and and Insurance plan that does not have a provider data base. Therefore allowing you do choose who you want.
However, make sure you understand any plan limitations such as waiting periods, yearly maximum limitations and deductibles. If you full understand how a given plan works for you, you should be happy with it.
