Dental Insurance Plus, Oral health care for your tongue.

Wednesday, May. 16th 2012 9:11 AM

Oral health care at home does not stop at brushing and flossing your teeth.  Many people forget about their tongue, however the tongue is a haven for most oral bacteria.  By using a tongue cleaner you help to ensure proper and thorough cleaning of the accumulated bacteria, food particles and dead cells.  Another reason to clean your tongue daily is that it will  also ensure fresh breath.

You do not want to face consequences of having poor oral hygiene.

Saturday, Apr. 28th 2012 7:39 AM

By having poor dental and oral hygiene you invite plaque build up around the base of your teeth and gum line. Which will cause your gums to be red and inflamed. If allowed to continue it will start to cause tooth decay and gum disease. This if still left uncared for can lead to destruction of bone and other fragile tissues supporting your teeth, and you could lose your teeth.

Thursday, Apr. 26th 2012 7:27 AM

I know that on a dental discount plan you get discounted saving off your dental services.  But want I am wanting to know is would I be lacking in coverages or benefits if I buy a dental discount plan over dental insurance.  I am leaning towards a dental discount plan. However, when I tell my work friends that I may get a discount plan they are all like you should just get dental insurance.

Dental Health Care, Not sure if I should trust my dentist.

Sunday, Apr. 22nd 2012 9:15 AM

I had the same dentist for many years since I live a small town there is not too many local dental office a person can go to.  Any way a while back I had a crown put on due to a cracked tooth.  After a year some how a cavity got under the crown and the dentist had to take off the crown and do a root cancal.  So therefore I had to pay for a root canal and a new crown.

However when he put the new crown on it was cemented on very high, It felt as if I had a marble in my mouth.  He all it just new and I would get use to it as it settles it did not happen and I felt as if my bite was off.  I then started having problems with the top tooth above the crown.

He says that one has a cavity and I will need to have a root canal and crown put on it within this year is what he advises.  I think that it is the crown he put on that messed up my top tooth nothing was wrong with until then and now I need more expensive dental care on yet another tooth.

I am upset and not sure how to go about telling my dentist about it. I feel he will not take any fault in the matter and I really think I just want to change dentists but like I said I live in a small town and I am sure most dentists here know each other. What should I do? I not sure I trust him anymore.

Having good oral health goes beyond brushing and flossing your teeth.

Saturday, Apr. 14th 2012 12:59 PM

Yes preventive dental care does start from home with brushing and flossing twice a day daily, and but using mouthwash that kills germs.  However that is still just the start of having and maintaining good oral health care.

Get into the habit of looking at the inside of your mouth.  Know how your gums, cheeks and tongue look like on a normal basis so you can tell when something changes or is new.  That way when spotting something that is different in your mouth you can have it check out by a doctor or your dentist.

It is important to keep your regular dental appointments.  Your dentist will not only be able to provide you with your basic teeth cleaning but they will provide a routine oral check up to making sure your gums and oral care is healthy.
