Question: I live in Virginia with my husband and three year old son.  My husband should see a dentist about a filling that came out four weeks ago.  He been putting it off since we do not currently have dental benefits and he thinks it will cost to much to fix.  I would like to find a low cost dental plan that will make my husbands dental cost lower.

Answer: I would suggest looking at one of our dental discount plans since your husband should see a dentist as soon as possible and you do not want to pick up dental insurance that would have waiting periods.  Our dental discount plans, will help to reduce the cost of him having a new filling put in and they are effective within the next business day with no waiting periods.

Dental Insurance Quotes for New Jersey Part Time Working Mom

Thursday, Apr. 14th 2016 8:29 AM

I am a working single mom.   I work part time so I can be at home when my child is off from school.  We do not have dental insurance and I am finding dental insurance to costly for me to get.  I been looking at some of the dental discount plans you have to offer but since I never bough a discount plan before can you tell me how they work?

Reply: With dental discount plans you are receiving reduce cost for your dental services at dental offices that are providers of the plan.  Most dental discount plans will provide a discounted fee schedule that shows your discounted cost for many dental services at a general/family dental provider office.  Normally for dental services not listed on this schedule you received 15-20 percent saving off the dentist normal charges for that service.   You will also received around 15-20 percent off any plan specialist cost if you choose to go to a specialist in the plan.  Note not all discount plans are the same so make sure you do read the plans terms and conditions to be sure of it’s benefits.

Dental Insurance Plus, Family Dental Insurance Quote

Wednesday, Apr. 6th 2016 7:16 AM

I have a family of five. We go to the dentist two times a year as advised,  but our dental cost are getting to the point that we really can not afford to go when needed. We would like to get a dental plan that is fairly low cost and will help with reducing our family dental bills.

Reply: Lower cost family dental insurance plans would be the HMO’s insurance options.  HMO’s insurance plans are normally lower cost ranging from $20 – $40.00 a month for a family plan.  However under an HMO dental insurance plan you will need to go to a plan provider.  That may mean choosing a new dental office.

Dental Insurance Plus, Individual Dental Discount Plans.

Monday, Apr. 4th 2016 7:10 AM

Reviewing your dental insurance plans I notice you also offer dental discount choices.  How would you advise someone who is thinking about getting a dental plan what to look for.  I can not afford the dental insurance choices I seen on line so it come down to getting a plan in order to save any money off my dental services.  I just not sure how to tell which plan would be better.

Reply: With dental discount plans here are a few things to check off to make sure you are getting the plan that right for your needs.

1) Compare cost of plans: Normally cost with dental discount do not very greatly but this still can be a factor for people.

2) Compare the plans discounted fee schedule for services that are listed. Most dental discount plans will provide a set discounted fee schedule that will show your discounted prices for different dental services provided by the plan general/family dental offices. Pick out a few dental services you feel you will be needing to compare cost with out having to compare each line item.

3) Compare the dental providers in each plan.  Choosing a dentist or making sure there are dental office in the plan you want to go to is important.  If you do not care for the dental providers that are in the plan the odds are you will not use it.  Make sure to call the dentist in the plan and confirm they are in fact still a provider and ask any other questions that may be important to you so that you feel convertible going to that provider under the plan

Dental Insurance Plus, Looking for an additional dental plan

Wednesday, Mar. 30th 2016 8:56 AM

Question: I just got my benefits though my job.  I was told that my dental benefits will not cover for major dental work until I have it for one year.   That I can only could get preventive care now and basic dental after six months.

What I would like to know is, if I could get an additional dental plan to cover for any major dental needs that may come up until I had my work plan for one year?

Answer: You may want to review any HMO’s or dental discount plans in the mean time as those plans are not only more affordable but generally will not have any plan waiting periods. Dental Insurance Plus, Dental Insurance Coverage Question.

Monday, Mar. 28th 2016 8:49 AM

Question: How can you know what your true cost is for dental insurance plans that say they pay out by a percentage but only up to UCR.  I asking because right now I have a PPO plan offer to me though my job.

However whenever I go to the dentist to use my dental PPO plan I always get hit with an additional UCR fee cost.  I am not sure if I just have a bad plan where I should find my own dental plan that offers better coverages or if I being taken by the dentist.  How does one figure this out.

Answer:  Here are a few things to think over when dealing with dental insurance plans that have UCR fees.

1) Are you going to a plan provider of your PPO?  Generally when using the PPO’s plan providers you reduce your risk of having UCR fees.

2) Are you seeing a dentist that is in your rated area?  If you live in a lower cost area but see a dentist in a higher cost area (plan provider or not) you increase your risk of UCR fees because UCR fee are based on your home zip not the zip of the dentist you are seeing.

3) Remember if you do not want to have any surprise UCR fees after the fact make sure to have your dentist file a quote only for your services to your insurance company so that they can then advise you of what they would pay out prior to you having or starting the dental service.  Then you decide if the price is something you can afford at the time or not.

4) If you feel that even with your PPO insurance though work is still too costly or you would like a more straight forward cost statement for services you at that point may want to review an HMO dental insurance where all their dental services that are covered are listed on a fee schedule that clearly shows the cost for each dental service offered under the plan leaving out the risk of additional charges due to any UCR fees.

Dental Insurance Plus, What You Need to Know about Baby Dental Care.

Wednesday, Feb. 24th 2016 2:26 PM

Here are some simple dos and don’t you may want to keep in mind when taking care of your child baby teeth.

Dos:  Clean you baby gums before teething.  Take you baby to see a dentist with in a few months of them cutting their first tooth, or no latter then their first birthday.Have dental insurance for your child and your family to help with the cost of dental care. Find a dentist both you and your child will like.  Try and use non fluoride toothpaste when brushing your child baby teeth. Floss your child teeth as soon as two teeth are next to each other. Talk to your child dentist for good dental care tips

Don’t:  Do not try and clean your baby gums if your child is tired or cranky  Do not use fluoride toothpaste too soon.  A good time would be when your child can spit.  When you do start to use toothpaste do not over use it.  A pea size amount is all you need for an adult for a child even less should be used.  (A little does go a long way)

For calcium spots on your teeth, you may wish to consult a Cosmetic Specialist.

Saturday, Feb. 20th 2016 2:12 PM

Cosmetic dentistry may help you to get your best smile at any age. One of the most popular cosmetic dental procedures to a perfect smile is bonding. Cosmetic dental bonding is a fairly painless procedure usually performed in one dental visit by applying an enamel like material to your teeth which is then shaped, hardened with a special light and polished.

For a more dramatic smile, porcelain veneers can make a drastic difference. With veneers, you can control the color, position, shape, and size of your new teeth which can correct crooked, worn, or chipped teeth. This procedure can cost between $1,200 – $3,500 per tooth.

Cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is not afforded by most dental insurance companies. If you are with a group dental insurance company through your employer, you may want to inquire if cosmetic dentistry insurance coverage is provided under your dental plan.  Cosmetic dental coverage is normally provided by discount dental plans. Discount dental plans usually cover 15 to 20 percent of the cosmetic dental care cost.

What is Supplemental Dental Insurance

Thursday, Feb. 18th 2016 2:01 PM

Supplemental dental insurance is an individual or family insurance policy purchased to cover a portion of the dental costs. Supplemental dental insurance will normally not cover the entire dental care procedure. If you have a primary dental insurance plan that you purchased or your employer provided, the supplemental dental policy typically covers the remaining dental bill.  For example, if the dental plan policy covers half of the dental cost, the secondary or supplement dental insurance plan should cover the remaining balance of your dental procedure. A supplement dental insurance plan may also be purchased to cover the dental charges when there are annual dental benefit plan limits or exclusions.
