For the past few days, I have been looking at many different dental insurance web sites. Many offer the same plan sometimes at a different cost. I do not really understand why that would be the case. How do I know if I am buying a dental insurance plan at the best rate?
Reply: Not knowing what you are reviewing it would be hard to say why there is a premium difference if it really is the same plan. You may be thinking you are reviewing the same but in fact you may not be. Such as there are many different Delta dental insurance plan options they may seem similar but benefits are varied making them different plans at different cost. The key is reviewing the plans coverage’s as well as their limitations that is where you will start seeing the difference of the plans you are reviewing.

If you have Gum Disease an no dental insurance currently, you may want to look into buying a dental HMO insurance plan. Dental HMO’s are typically a the lower cost insurance plan option, more importantly however, is that they generally do not have waiting periods. This is important when it comes to gum disease as you will want to treat it as soon as possible before it turns into an even larger dental care issue.

If you have gum disease it is important to have dental insurance in place to help you with the cost of dental care. If you are wanting to stay with your current dentist a dental PPO plans would let you do that.
However, keep in mind many PPO plans to have waiting periods for major dental care services and treatment of gum disease in most cases fall into major services.
Therefore you need to be ware of the waiting periods the plan has or buy one with no waiting periods. PPO plans without waiting periods tend to be more costly then those that do so get what best make sense to you and your budget

According to a growing body of evidence, gum disease could also play a role in a surprising range of seemingly unrelated health problems.
Heart Disease: Although not everyone with heart disease has gum disease, and not everyone with gum disease has heart disease, there does appear to be a correlation.
Whether gum disease is an independent risk factor for heart disease is still being discussed, there are some theories as to how the two might be related.
Cancer: Fum disease and cancer do not, on the surface, appear to have much in common. However, according to a study published in 2008 which investigated tooth loss and cancer in 48,375 men, the authors concluded that there was, indeed, a link between gum disease and cancer.
Another, more recent, study involving more than 68,000 adults found a strong association between gum disease and overall cancer risk, the link was also significant between gum disease and pancreatic cancer.

In California there are many good dental discount plans that are available. On our website we offer. Dental discount plans though Aetna, and New Dental Choice. Dental discount plans are a good low cost dental plan option. They do not have many of the limitations that dental insurance plans may come with.
Many of our dental discount plans start within the next business day of your on line enrollment. Which is very good for those people that are in dental pain since they can see a dentist right away. Dental discount plans are not for everyone. But they are a good way to reduce all your dental needs at a very affordable cost.
When deciding between dental discount plans carefully review their fee schedules. The fee schedules show the discount prices on what you pay for each dental service listed. You also want to make sure there is a dentist in the dental plan you want to go to. Since there is no outside network benefits. I suggest calling the dentist listed and confirming they are still accepting the plan as well as new members.

Affordable dental insurance plans from an HMO have a limited pool of dentist to select, but it is a more affordable insurance plan. If you are self employed and looking for a more affordable dental plan, a discount dental plan may be an alternative.
Discount dental plans are not dental insurance plans. A discount plan partners with dentists to provide customers with a savings on visits to the dentist office. The downside to discount dental plans is that they are not regulated and you have limited recourse if you experience dental plan problems.

Although most common cause of gingivitis is the accumulation of bacterial plaque between and around the teeth. There are other cause and risk factors listed below:
Hormones Changes: This may occur during puberty, menopause, the menstrual cycle, and pregnancy. The gingiva might become more sensitive, raising the risk of inflammation.
Some Diseases: Diseaseas like Cancer, diabetes, and HIV are linked to a higher risk of gingivitis.
Drugs: Oral health may be affected by some medications, especially if saliva flow is reduced. Dilantin, an anticonvulsant, and some anti-angina medications can cause abnormal growth of gum tissue.
Smoking: Regular smokers more commonly develop gingivitis, compared with non-smokers.
Age: The risk of gingivitis increases with age.
Family History: Those whose parent or parents have had gingivitis have a higher risk of developing it too. This is thought to be due to the type of bacteria we acquire during our early life.
If you have some of these risk factors make sure to talk them over with your dentist in order to maintain good dental health care.

The most common cause of gingivitis is the accumulation of bacterial plaque between and around the teeth. The plaque triggers an immune response, which, in turn, can eventually lead to the destruction of gingival, or gum, tissue. It may also, eventually, lead to further complications, including bone loss and the loss of teeth.
Dental plaque can also cause tooth decay, and periodontal problems such as gingivitis and chronic periodontitis, a gum infection.
When plaque is not removed adequately, it can harden into calculus, or tartar, at the base of the teeth, near the gums. This has a yellow color. Plaque and tartar eventually irritate the gums, causing gum inflammation around the base of the teeth.
This means that the gums might easily bleed. Calculus can only be removed professionally. Which is why it is important to see your dentist at least twice a year for basic check up and cleaning

Signs of gingivitis include red and puffy gums, that typically bleed easily when the person brushes their teeth.
As stated in the prior post (on 8/24/19 – What is Gingivitis) Gingivitis can often time be resolved with good oral hygiene, such as longer and more frequent brushing, and flossing. In addition, an antiseptic mouthwash may help. This along with seeing your dentist for regular dental check ups and cleanings.
In mild cases of gingivitis, a person may not even know they have it, because symptoms are mild. However, the condition should be taken seriously and addressed immediately.

Gingivitis is a non-destructive type of periodontal disease, but untreated gingivitis can progress to periodontitis. This is more serious and can eventually lead to loss of teeth.
By having good at home dental care habits ie: brushing and flossing daily and seeing your dentist for preventive dental care services twice a year, you can generally avoid gingivitis issues

Question: I been searching on line for a dental insurance plans and I notice that many websites seem to have many of the same dental insurance plans yet they do not all have the same price. How can I make sure I am receiving the best dental insurance quote. I do not want to pay more then I have too.
Reply: It is understandable that you would not want to have to pay more for the same dental insurance plan. However, even though many dental insurance plans may seem the same it is more likely they are not if price is not the same.
Insurance rates are filed with the department of insurance therefore the monthly or annual cost of the plan dose not change due to whom may be selling it. Assuming it is in fact the “same plan” What there may be is a differnt in fees, if the selling agent is adding any fees on their ends. So look for fees costs.
That said really review each plan carefully. As an expamle, Just because you seen a Delta dental plan being offer on one website, it dose not mean it is the same Delta dental plan you seen on a prior site. As Delta dental had many different plan options and not everyone site is selling the same plan option that Delta dental may have offer.

Post-op-care wisdom teeth, What foods can I eat?
After anesthetic or I.V. sedation, you will want to start with only liquids. Also while your mouth is numb, you should avoid hot liquids or foods. Have soft food on hand such as applesauce, pudding or jello. Once numbness wears off you can progress to solid foods, chewing away from the surgical sites. Avoid foods like nuts, sunflower seeds, popcorn, etc., which can get lodged in the socket areas

Sadly mouth and throat cancer is rarely diagnosed in the early stages due to that the symptoms for mouth and throat cancer do not normally appear until the cancer is advanced. Another proper with diagnoses is that mouth and throat cancer symptoms can be mistaken for something else such as a toothache. Yet sometimes mouth and throat cancer can be spotted early during a routine exam by a doctor or dentist. Many dentist will advise their patients to regularly look at your mouth in a mirror at least once a month to check for symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms are a mouth sore that fails to heal, or a pain in the mouth that does not go away.

Dental extractions can happen whether your an adult or a child. One type of common dental extraction would be wisdom teeth. Therefore knowing what you can eat after dental surgery is is helpful. Yet, with a minimal amount of preparation, it is possible to eat a balanced and satisfying diet during your recuperation.
For your proteins food such as tofu, mashed and seasoned pinto beans and hummus are excellent sources of food that does not need much chewing. You can get your fruits and vegetables with such foods as applesauce, pureed bananas, pureed squash and sweet and white potatoes.
