Question: What I am wanting to understand is if say I buy a typical dental insurance plan what would I get out of it? I see some that say there is no charge for X-rays and cleaning but is that really all I get out off it. I do not see how much basic filling cost, yet most plans are making you wait around six months before you receive any benefits for fillings. As far as crown and extractions you are out waiting even longer periods before they will even start to cover those type of dental services.
Answer: Seems like you have to been reviewing PPO dental insurance plans. Dental PPO insurance plans are good if you are wanting to stay with a certin dental office that dose not take HMO or dental discount plans. HMO dental insurance plans are normally very affordable and provides benefits with no waiting periods. PPO dental plans are often offer though ones employer since many jobs offer PPO to fit all there employees locations. However once you are shopping it out on your own cost and limitations may become a bigger factor

Dental insurance is a good way of controlling your dental care cost. By choosing your dental insurance plan carefully you can receive your dental care services at a considerably lower cost than the charges you will have to pay without dental insurance. The key is choosing the right plan that fits your dental needs the best.
Shopping out the different dental plans available it an essential part of choosing a Dental Plan. Read and understand each plans term and conditions. The more you know about the dental plan the better equipped you are, and therefore, the greater the likelihood that you will make a reasonable decision.
Try to decide on how much coverage you or your family needs as well as how much you can afford to spend on a dental plan. Do not assume that the higher the cost of the dental plan is the better the coverage’s. Different types of dental plan have different limitations. Also if you are wanting to stay with a family dentist before searching for a dental insurance plan find out what plans that dental office is a provider of. Check to see if they are an in network provider of any dental plans this will save you time in reviewing plans that they may not accept. When major dental care is needed make sure you are buying a plan that does not have waiting periods for the very services that you may need right away. Many plan like PPO and free choice of provider have waiting period on both basic and major dental care services. Where as other plans that do not have waiting periods may not cover for specialist so make sure you know what you are covered for when needing major dental care.

With the increase on life expectancy the need for dental care also increases in order to keep our teeth in good condition. As we get older we may find ourselves at a greater risk of needing major dental work even if we take good daily care of our teeth. Having dental insurance in place become important in order to save money on our dental care needs. Even if you think you do not need dental insurance now it is best to get dental insurance before there is a need for major dental services. That’s because many dental insurance plans have waiting periods for larger dental care needs and waiting to buy the plan does not normally workout to your advantage.

Dental Insurance quote and choosing the best dental plan
Dental Insurance quote and choosing the best dental plan. Depending on the state you live in this website offer many different dental insurance and dental plan options. If you are searching for dental insurance on line you will be able to review many different dental insurance plans and dental plan types.
So how do you go about making sure you pick the best dental plan for you and your family? Well first you want to start with knowing your own dental needs and what you want out of a dental plan.
Such as if a person has a dentist they want to stay with, then finding a dental plan that the dental office takes becomes part of the decision factor. If you have a toothache today getting a dental plan that has waiting periods may not be the best way to address your dental issue.
If you are a low income family getting a high cost dental PPO plan may not be useful or affordable for you. Therefore looking at a dental HMO or dental discount plan may be a better option.
Make sure you read each plan terms and conditions carefully. Understanding what you are buying is very important. Getting help and asking questions about any dental plan is a good way to make sure you are buying the dental plan that will work best for your needs.

In California there are many dental discount plans that are available. On our website we offer. Dental a discount plans though Aetna. Dental discount plans are a good low cost dental plan option. They do not have many of the limitations that dental insurance plans may come with.
Many of our dental discount plans start within the next business day of your on line enrollment. Which is very good for those people that are in dental pain since they can see a dentist right away. Dental discount plans are not for everyone. But they are a good way to reduce all your dental needs at a very affordable cost.
When deciding between dental discount plans carefully review their fee schedules. The fee schedules show the discount prices on what you pay for each dental service listed. You also want to make sure there is a dentist in the dental plan you want to go to. Since there is no outside network benefits. I suggest calling the dentist listed and confirming they are still accepting the plan as well as new members.

Supplemental Dental Insurance, Needed in addition to my PPO dental plan
Question: Both my husband and I have our dental insurance though my husband job. They offer him a PPO plan that has a 1000.00 yearly max. In the past few years we have not needed more then the max limitation aloud in a year.
Now however I have an tooth that had an old filling that now needs to have a root canal and crown done. Along with another tooth that the dentist told me I should also have a root canal and a crown done.
Two root canals and two crowns are sure to go over my $1000 per year max limitation. Is there any Supplemental dental insurance plans I can get that will not have any waiting periods and which I can use to help me out with my dental cost?
Reply: There are dental PPO plans that do not have waiting periods however, the first year benefits still tend to be reduced so you would need to compare coverage’s and cost of the plan to see if it make sense to buy an additional plan and if you would really be saving money doing so. You may also want to look at plans that do offer a higher max limitation so you hopefully do not come up across this type of issue again.

Dental insurance quote for getting a root canal
Question: I think that there is a good chance that I will be needing a root canal. Right now I do not have insurance and I have been shopping plans on line. On the plans that are affordable they list the cost of a root canal but there is more then just one listed.
The same with crowns there is more then just one listed. In order for me to get a quote and know what my cost is for a root canal and crown under a plan, how do I know which one is the right one?
Reply: You would need to see a dentist to first confirm if you need a root canal and crown and also to get the recommend ADA codes for those services. If you seen a dentist already and was told by the dentist the work you needed call back the dental office and ask for the ADA codes for the services they are listing you to have done.
That way with the ADA codes you can match up the coverage’s to the true service you want render and know what your cost is going to be.
Another option to this would be to look at the highest cost options for the dental services, you think you may need and if it less great but comparing the high end with the different plans when you are not sure want you need would be better then going into a plan thinking it is the lower cost and it comes out to be the higher cost

Question: My mom needs to have two root canal done on her back molars and she will also need to have crowns put on them. The best I am seeing is 50 percent coverage’s after a waiting period of a year or more. What can I get her that will offer full coverage.
Reply: Most insurance plans do provide free preventive care such as the office visit cleaning x-rays. However, from there is is typically a set cost you pay or a percentage co-payment you have to pay. Seems as if you have been reviewing dental PPO plans as they typically have waiting periods for major dental care (such as root canals and crowns) for a year sometime longer depending on the plan. We offer two dental PPO plans that do not have waiting periods though still some what restrictive in benefits for majors services with in the first year on the plan.
You may want to review one of our dental HMO plan options. Thous there is still cost to the services you are wanting they are a much lower cost compared to not having insurance and you are able to have services render at the effective date of the plan.

According to the ADA, over half of Americans go to the dentist once every six months. Many view the see your dentist twice a year as written in stone. Yet is that really the case?
The fact is how many times you need to see a dentist in a year depends on your own oral health care. There are some people that have very good oral health care habits along with good genes that they may only have to see the dentist once a year.
Whereas others may not be so lucky. With gum disease being the number one dental care issue in the US, people with gum disease may have to see the dentist three to four times a year. Your dentist will be able to best advise you on just how often you should come in each year. he or She will gov over your oral health and your at home dental care habits to help determine what is best for you

Question: I am not sure I really understand how dental insurance works. I have dental insurance PPO plan though my job but it does not really seem all that good to me. My questions are why have insurance if you are having to pay the dentist in full for dental services. I mean I know you get your money back but if I could afford to pay the dentist I would not need dental insurance.
Reply: With PPO’s plans how you pay depends on how the dentist processes the claims. Sounds as if the dentist you are going to dose require you to pay in full at the time services are provided to you, there are other dentist office that will charge you based on your plan coverage and then adjust for any difference accordingly. There may be still though even fewer that will wait for the insurance company to pay and then charge you for any remaining balances. Less and less dental offices do that however. It is understandable that they would want to be paid for the services that where already render.
So really the issue is with the dental office with regards to your complaint. You would need to find a dental office that works with you and how they file out claims.

Are there dental insurance plans that can offer really good basic dental care so that my mom can start to afford seeing the dentist like she should? Or are their dentist that offer dental health care at a very low cost for fixed income seniors?

I do not think that my sister has good oral and dental health care. Her teeth look really yellow to me and when I ask if she seen a dentist she says she can not afford to see one. I know she has her son that she taking care of but I do not think she should let herself go in the process.
Do you have any good oral and dental health care tips that she can applie without having to go to the dentist? Something I could pass along to her were her teeth can start looking better.
Reply: I suggest that she buys a low cost dental insurance plan such as an HMO insurance plan they run as little as $7.95 a month for one person and often time provide preventive dental care for free.
Besides that having good at home dental care habits would be very important. Brushing twice a day and flossing daily

Dental Health care for seniors: My dad is 75 and does not have any real dental benefits with his Medicare. He has not been to the dentist for some time and I would like to get him to go at least for a check up and cleaning.
Are there any dental health care plans he can get for seniors? Or any low cost dental plans I could buy for him maybe? Wanting to help out my dad please advise what you have to offer.
Reply: Typically HMO insurance plans are the more affordable insurance plan type. They are generally not age rated, one only needs to be at least 18 years of age to buy it.
