Dental Insurance, Dental Discount, Need major dental work

So I have not been to the dentist since I was on my parents dental insurance plan. Lets just say that is a long time ago. I know I need dental work. I am not in any major pain or anything I just know that my teeth are not in good shape.
I am not sure if I should get a dental insurance plan with its waiting period and yearly max and do my dental services a little at a time. Or go for a dental discount plan for the dental saving and get my dental work done all at once. Which way in the long run would be cheaper?

Really that would be up to you if you want to choose your own dentist then a PPO may be the way you want to go however they do have the waiting periods and yearly dollar max limits.
A dental discount plan you need to choose a dentist that is taking the plan in order to get the discounted saving under the plan.

It is a person choose for you to make. If you are fine with doing your dental work though a period of years and want a PPO then that would be your choice
I would do a discount plan only because I would not want to have to wait for my dental services. I also think in the long run when you have a lot of major dental services needed that the discount plan would be cheaper.

Well I did not like either a dental discount plan or an PPO dental insurance plan. I wanted insurance and not just some plan that give me a few discounts but I also did not want to have waiting periods for most of my dental service needs.
I found an HMO dental insurance plan that worked out best for my family and I. I get insurance but without all the limitations.

I choose an dental HMO insurance plan. HMO are good for your over all general dentist needs. What they may lack is that normally HMO may not cover for specialist. So keep that in mind to confirm with the plan if you think you will need dental specialist services.
