SUPPLEMENTAL DENTAL INSURANCE POLICY

Monday, Nov. 14th 2016 6:02 AM

Supplemental Dental Insurance Policy

A supplement dental insurance plan policy may also be purchased to cover the dental charges when there are annual dental benefit plan limits or exclusions. Supplemental dental insurance is an individual or family insurance policy purchased to cover a portion of the dental costs. Supplemental dental insurance will normally not cover the entire dental care procedure.

If you have a primary dental insurance plan that you purchased or your employer provided, the supplemental dental policy typically covers the remaining dental bill.  For example, if the dental plan policy covers half of the dental cost, the secondary or supplement dental insurance plan should cover the remaining balance of your dental procedure.

The Benefits of Having a Family Dental Insurance Health Care Plan.

Saturday, Nov. 12th 2016 6:49 AM

Not everyone in the US receive dental benefits though their employer.  People that do not receive dental benefits can tend to put off their dental care for themselves and their families.  This mostly due to cost issues.

However even for families there are low cost dental insurance options that are available and will help make going to the dentist much more affordable for your whole family.  There are HMO insurance plans in most states that run around $30-$40 a month for a family and offer free to very low cost preventive care, such as X-rays, Check ups and cleanings. For just one person those services can up to a $150 or more.  You can see how with a family of four paying $40.00 a month just save you over $500.00 in dental care cost.

Also people that have dental insurance tend to see the dentist regularly for their preventive care services. By doing so it helps to prevent larger dental issues from start there by also controlling the cost for dental services.

Dental Insurance Plus on Planning for Major Dental Work

Thursday, Nov. 10th 2016 6:46 AM

If you know you will need major dental work and you have current dental insurance most companies will be able to tell you exactly what your share of the cost will be before you receive treatment.

Most PPO’s providers can give you a free estimate, called a “pre-treatment estimate ” based on your records and your dentist’s proposed treatment plan. They will review your x-rays, diagnosis and coverage, and send a statement back to you and your dentist detailing what they will pay and what your costs will be.

However, it is important to understand that a pre-treatment estimate is not a guarantee of payment. When the services are complete and a claim is received for payment, The company will calculate its payment based on your current eligibility, amount remaining in your annual maximum and any deductible requirements.

Dental Insurance Plus on Cost of Braces

Wednesday, Oct. 26th 2016 6:19 AM

Question: How much do you pay for braces with insurance?

Reply: That would depend on the plan you have and or buy.  If you buy and HMO dental insurance normally they will show you, your cost for braces based on a two year clip. If you have braces longer then two years then from that time on it is normally based on UCR of your dentist.

With PPO’s plans few provide braces for adults, so make sure if the braces are not for a child that adults would have benefits for braces as well. PPO’s will normally pay out on a percentage say 50% but up to a max dollar limit which can be per year as well as per life time. So you can see where it would be very important to clearly read the plans terms and conditions to see if it would be a good fit for your orthodontic care needs.

What to do if you have an food lodged between teeth.

Monday, Oct. 24th 2016 10:11 AM

Some times while eating we can get food lodged between our teeth that just does not want to come out easily.  If you are eating out at the time this can also be irritating to you and your gums.

However never use a sharp object to remove anything from between your teeth. If this technique doesn’t work, and you can end up cracking or chipping a tooth.  Best advise, carry dental floss with you at all times. I do not suggest flossing at the table but you can do so in the restroom.

Dental Insurance Plus on Dental Sealants

Tuesday, Oct. 4th 2016 1:36 PM

What are Dental Sealants?

Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that are applied to the grooves on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth to protect them from tooth decay.  Dental sealants are effective in preventing dental caries in the occlusal (chewing) and other pitted and fissured surfaces of the teeth.  Dental sealants were assessed in permanent molars (occlusal and buccal surfaces in lower molars and occlusal and lingual surfaces in upper molars), premolars (occlusal surface), and upper lateral incisors (lingual surface).

Dental sealants are highly effective in preventing dental caries that occur on the surfaces of teeth that have pits and fissures.  Dental sealants are usually applied in a dentist’s office.  Dental sealants last for 4-5 years and can easily be reapplied by your dentist when they do wear off.  Dental sealants represent one of the greatest, but least known advances, of modern dentistry.
